“Stanger”

The DN Class has seen another Icon of our sport go home to unlimited black ice in the sky. Aaron Stange was borne February 19, 1975 and was taken from us way to young at the age of 43 by cancer on September 21, 2018. Stanger touched lives where ever he was, whether he was at work at the General Motors Tech Center designing truck chassis, summer sailing out of the North Cape Yacht Club, or promoting the DN Class or iceboating in general.

Aaron served as Treasurer for the IDNIYRA in 1998 and 1999. He helped me design and build the molds for the Low-Pro Front and Slipper runners. He was the promoter and participant of our iceboat lunch meetings at Hooters. He was always full of ideas on how to get more people involved and having FUN. He will be missed, but his legacy carries on. Stanger’s wife Kim, his daughter Kaylie age 18, his son Jacob (Wolfgang) age 6, and his daughterJoanne age 4 will do their best to keep Stanger’s spirit alive by promoting FUN and sailing on hard and soft water. In an attempt to ease a small part of their burden, his friends have set up this page to help fund Jacob and Joanne’s future education.
